More than just a nice idea...

The greatest threat to the world comes from us. We often hear this and say 'yeah that's right', together 'we' can make it more than just a nice idea by doing what we know is right, for the environment, for ourselves and ultimately for each other...

Screenplay

Our book - 'Turn Your World Around' has been sent out to a few publishers and was well received by one that I know and trust, which was nice.

It's been interesting putting together publishing submissions. It's a very structured exercise and I've been lucky as putting together promotional plans and generating unique ideas is a strength of mine. It has been wonderful to see the ideas that have come to me in order to promote the book. I have to laugh though as the actual submission and personal bio is longer than the book!

One is to turn the concept of Turn Your World Around into a full experience to engage the senses. This concept is something that came to me earlier in the year - not knowing how I would do this - it is amazing to see things unfolding the way they are. It reinforces for me to trust your journey no matter what direction you are being taken, keep trusting that all you have asked for already exists and you are moving along towards that.

This brings me to a screenplay idea I have to bring the book to life and reach people in another way. I won't be sitting down to plan it, I have the idea and trust once again that this is meant to be and the 'doing' will be effortless. The idea came to me while watching a movie with a friend last weekend and was a result of switching characters to demonstrate openness and different eyes to view the world (Which we all have the ability to do)...

I want to thank you for all your emails and words of encouragement along the way. I've been posting here for over a year now and it truly is a great gift to be able to connect with you all. You all respond in your own way and to think that people are benefiting from some of my thoughts and insights makes my heart swim.

Namaste,

Michael

Where do you go to?

I've been thinking recently about how we make our decisions in life...are we asking things of ourselves, are we evolving as people - as a consciousness. I can't answer for you as we are only ever in a position to report on our own current position at that point in time.

Over time i've seen the benefits of asking myself questions so I thought i'd share a little bit about identifying your home chakra (http://www.healer.ch/Chakras-e.html) so we can see the difference between a feeling and intuition.

Looking at our primary motivating force in life can help open us up to something new and we can also realise that there are other ways of looking at things - there's always another way.

How do we find our home chakra?

Well below i'll list the specific areas of consciousness each one is related to so we can familiarise ourselves with each of the seven chakras, it may be a refresher for some of you or you could be hearing about this for the first time.

At this point - before I start I'll answer the question why? Well when I look at my own journey through being involved in healing the thing that resonates with me the most is going beyond what is physical. Being able to look at the physical body as a map of the consciousness and being mindful of what is happening for me in my consciousness at any moment in time. Sometimes we can see no release from a certain way of thinking, a certain way of viewing the world...this is something that may help open you up to new ways of being.

Back to finding your home chakra...Ask yourself the question:

What is my primary motivating force in life?

Is it to do with...

Security - things like money, home, job...

Do I make decisions in life based around where I will physically be comfortable and safe?

Sensations - Feeling, food or sex...

Do I listen to the needs of my body, do I feel my emotions?

Self Definition - Power, control, freedom

Do I construct my life around being in control to feel free within myself? I see that I have to do this...to get this...

Love - unconditionally, acceptance...

Is your motivation in life to love...to be unconditional in doing so? To share yourself openly and freely.

Intuition - flowing manifestation of all your hopes and dreams, your goals happen without much effort on your part at all. You ask the universe and trust that it will be there - you are being guided, each moment towards the fulfillment of your goals.

Spirituality - My decisions are based around spirituality, i'm guided by my inner sound...You live a life where you don't see yourself making decisions - life just happens.

Oneness with - You see yourself living a life of unity, you see yourself as a single point of consciousness creating all and connected to all.

If you aren't quite sure look back at a few decisions you have made recently. There is often one thing we go back to in times we are challenged or some might call it threatened. Our space and who we identify as 'me' needs to make a decision - what's it going to be. If you guys want to write to me or comment please do...

For me at the moment life is very much about following my intuition - living life from the throat chakra. In the past my life was very much centred around the root chakra - being very safe, not doing much out of the ordinary. I'd construct ideas and ways of being to really did shut me off from experiencing the world - kind of like a 'I can't do this until this happens...or that until I do this...'

I'm now off for a walk and will leave you with this thought...

Keeping an open heart when you know you it wants to close lets you see the magic swimming...

Book in a week update...

Hi friends...

I have heard back from my friend regarding the 'book in a week', and the concept really resonated with him. Everyone I speak to gets a bit of a buzz about the idea.

I have now contacted a designer friend to help me turn it into an e-book. I'm putting it out into the universe that I produce some wonderful illustrations to accompany it...That of course will be for the printed version so i'll likely use some photographs for the e-book...all that landscape photography will pay off!

Remember I always welcome comments, thoughts, ideas...anything...

A book...

Namaste...Namaste...

The book in a week journey has come to a close...I wrote an introduction this morning and sent it off to a good friend to read. When I wrote to him I explained that not a lot of thought went into it - it was just something that happened. For example I didn't sit down and put pressure on myself to write - it all happened on Wednesday afternoon at my favorite coffee shop...the idea, the words just flowed.

It wasn't a struggle - just some words on a page - do you have anything you want to put down in writing? Do it this week...call it what ever you want - it can be a challenge, a goal, a wish...anything you want...Once you put the words down just let them go...then create something new and exciting the next week...every day is an adventure...

Get-It-Done Guy's 9 Steps to Work Less and Do More...

Who wrote it?
Stever Robbins…

Who’s he?
He’s the Get It Done Guy

Who’s the Get It Done Guy?
Besides a man with many tips, he is a successful entrepreneur, Harvard MBA and MIT graduate…

What’s he done in the past?
Stever is a veteran of nine startups and he also authored ‘It takes a Lot More than Attitude’

What does this mean?
He likes developing things…

Stever Robbins
What’s he doing today?
He is CEO of Stever Robbins Inc, has a popular podcast called Quick and Dirty Tips, when it comes to anything to do with business he’s your guy…actually it’s more than business it’s life business…I’m only reviewing two chapters so I’m sure there is more…

His truth?
Helping people reach their dreams and be happy doing it…

Does he live it?
Yeah he sure does…his passion centers around helping younger and emerging business leaders by mentoring high school students through junior achievement, serving as a career coach and business plan judge at Harvard Business School…

All work and no play?
No not at all this dude does comedy improv, swing dancing, NLP, he sings, he hypnotizes and he even strategizes his way through board games…

What’s the book saying?
You’ll do so much more, and you’ll work so much less, that your boss will promote you; your loved ones will beam proudly; and your kids will gasp in awe and blame you for everything just a little bit less than they currently do.

Who will it speak to?
I’d say anyone involved in a committed career that often says ‘I wish I had more time’…anyone whose wife says ‘I wish you had more time for the family’ definitely should read this book!

Is that all?
No – parts of the book definitely spoke to me and resulted in me reminding myself to trust my trip. If any of these words grab ya – then it’s for you:

Living on purpose, no more procrastinating, conquering technology, beating distractions, staying organized, stop wasting time, optimizing, building stronger relationships and leverage…

When did he get my attention?
During the introduction the author says that through applying the steps your ‘Shoulders feel lighter, your body will vibrate with energy as you wander through fields of Lillies’…

These are physical experiences often reported back to me after a healing with a person so they are words that definitely resonate with me then I read on and learned that as a child he lived in a new age commune and loved putting on magic shows...After 18 years of living the wrong life it was after he set up his podcast (just past it's 7 millionth download!) that he began to reawaken his passion for media and performing...

What surprised me?
I really loved his presentation of goals and goal setting. I’m more of an ‘intentioner’ these days but really found the information useful.
The author speaks of goals “travelling in packs and at the bottom of the really big goals like ‘be successful’ are made up of sub-goals”. At the very bottom of all of these goals are concrete actions one must take in order to achieve the larger goals you have set for yourself.

What you will feel?
I’ll go out on a limb and really feel that people will see not only the presentation of great material but will see how the tools have been applied through the use of personal stories and the general flow of the topics. There is a focus on bringing people in and sharing – not isolating oneself in order to achieve. Throw in an encouragement to bring out the child within and you’ll be won over very early.
He’s lived it, shared it with thousands of people over the past ten years and now he is sharing it with you…

So what now?
Anyone with the true desire to reach people isn’t just about selling books so I’m sure Stever would be honoured for you to visit his website:

It is packed full of all forms of media and tips to get you started...

What about the Live Your Truth Guy?
Well, I’m going to write a book this week…

A book…in a week…Is this guy mad?
Well it’s just words put together on a page…I’m not thinking of an outcome just trusting my intuition and thought of Stever’s chapter on procrastination.
Some of you are aware I am writing a book about my life but this week I realised that a book can be about a very specific thing…so I thought hey…why not write a small book…

Thanks Stever…you reached me…

First Book Review coming tomorrow...

I’ve been blessed again this year with the opportunity to spend time out on the beautiful west coast of Vancouver Island in Carmanah…living on a beach is something I never thought would come my way so I won’t mention the off-shore fishing, cooking in the restaurant for the hikers battling the 75km west coast trail or being involved in some organic farming…I’ll just skip to how this book review came about!

On weekends I would return to Victoria for filming and while driving back to Port Renfrew one Tuesday my old pal Alex and I stopped for coffee. I checked my email before we went out of phone reception and had a follow up email from a woman named Nina regarding a book review…the idea resonated with me as it was something that just appeared – effortless.
So fast forward a few weeks and now I’m back in Victoria and managed to find the original email Nina sent me and ready to present my first ever book review!
It was in reading Nina’s emails that I realised for the first time I have ‘readers’…I mean it’s almost been a year since I started my blog, intitially to coincide with a story in Monday Magazine on my healing work and it’s grown from there...So anyway I thought ‘Readers’…I don’t have readers! Then I realised well maybe I do…yeah…yeah I do…so I thought my readers would love to hear about the book and duly replied…

So for the first time i’d like to say hello to all my readers out there and welcome you to my journey…or our journey…

Now back to the book…

Contrary to the belief of some of my friends my area of interest is spirituality and not so much self-help. If I was to apply a 9-Step process to my life I am likely to start at number four, jump to six and then start from one and think about things a tad too much…feeling my way through life is what works for me.
Going through the process of reviewing the first few chapters has been a wonderful experience for me and it came at a very reflective time. I’ll share more about that all soon.
I initially started by taking notes and being very logical about it. It didn’t work for me so I’ve gone about it in an intuitive way that works for me and I trust you will enjoy it…
So what’s the book? Who wrote it? I can hear you asking…check that out tomorrow and please sign up as a follower if that speaks to you...

Until then stay open…

Inspiration in unlikely places...

Below is a message from an old Uni mate that really moved me.

Live your truth and be open to any inspiration that speaks to you no matter how big or small it is - we all have the ability to reach others and connect with people...share now...

------

Hey pal,
Well i thought id let you know that after reading some of your old blogs a couple of weeks ago that they have acted as somewhat of a catalyst of some major change in my life. Although I had recently done the 10 day vipassana course (somewhat of a coincidence) it was the following your dream, extending yourself to achieve a reality that you might not have thought possible and the fact that there are some amazing people out there (this was the messages I took anyway).
The change. Well after 1 1/2 yr of having a terrible manager I told my director that I quit. funny how things work out because she turned around told me that she would restructure our entire office so that I stay and if it comes to it she can leave and I stay.
So thank you and keep living the dream.

August...

Hi everyone,

I'll be heading out to Carmanah on the west coast of Vancouver Island from tomorrow. There is no phone reception. I'll be there until August 13 and then I will head up island to Tofino to start shooting the Independent film I was cast in...

Rehearsals have been going great and there is an abundance of energy between all involved...

The production company are keeping a blog and social networking going during filming and you can stay up to date here:

http://www.richhippiefilms.com/road-blog/

Some great news just in - after doing some voice acting in June I will now be producing and presenting on a radio show. We are in development at the moment but my idea behind it is very similar to this blog. Where by people can take away a piece of information - yes just one - and do something positive. A life changing moment is simply that - a moment. One moment that requires one to be present and open to receive what it is that speaks to them...

Handmade paper is also on the go with me and I have really enjoyed the creativity over the past week...stay tuned for some images when I return on August 20...

Until then, here's to this moment and the next...

A Journey through the month of May...

So i guess it is later in the week...I don't really subscribe to any set week so please accept my apologies if any of you are annoyed or frustrated at this.

The past month has been quite a journey...here is a snapshot:

A weekend Vipassana meditation retreat enabled me to look at all areas of my life from a different viewpoint...Seeing things the way they are and not from the mental view point that is created by the self was something I am extremely grateful for. Having worked with energy for two years now, I experienced the most 'connected' feeling I had ever had in feeling - as my head brushed the trees during a barefoot walking meditation - connected as an energy source to the earth, the trees - to everything. Meditating and living in love and kindness and right action are now part of my daily life. My meditations enable me to continually explore areas of my consciousness I would have never discovered. 10-day retreat to come...

A few moments after I sent the wish out to manifest some money to pay my rent I received an email from a friend saying that a language school was looking for an Australian male voice actor...I finished my recording last night and enjoyed the experience. It wasn't easy but like everything one sets their mind to we have the ability to take ourselves to places we have never been...If we don't label things 'hard' or work in opposites then everything can flow...everything can seem magical.

I also attended my first acting audition...I made a decision not to prepare too much as I realised I had acted my way through life anyway...all of us do we just don't realise it. If you don't think that is the case a little exercise I have used recently is to think of all the questions you ask of others and write them down. Now ask yourself the same questions and see what you come up with - personal responsibility is the answer to most of the things that are bothering us...

So after setting up a blog about life being a movie - I am going to be in one! I am so grateful to be able to work together with the writers/director and share my creative ideas. In late April I wrote a feature story on a local band doing great things here in Victoria and the theme of that story and the band's current and future success is creative synchronicity. I was talking to the lead singer and song writer Andrew the other day and I said how great it was that that same synchronicity is now present in this movie project...Filming will be in Tofino for a week in August and then in and around Victoria for a few weekends in September. I am so grateful for the opportunity and to be able to share some of my ideas and philosophies to the script truly is a gift.

My writing project continues and I aim to have it finished in the next few weeks in draft form anyway...it is taking shape and a great process to go through. I will keep you all updated on this one...

What wonderful things are happening in your own wonderful world's?

I would be honoured to hear how your month has been and what magic you have experienced...

With gratitude...

P.s Just remembered also that I put together a travel story and am working on a few more at the moment. I managed to make it through to an editor back home in Australia at the first attempt so I expect to have more news on my journey into freelance writing soon...

Speckled dawn at the rising of the sun
My mind paints the picture of all that has become
Brightness emerges as she rises above the distant ridges
She greets me in the face as I choose truth over evil
Energies merging
I make the connection
Two beams into one
Two become three
Consciousness merging
Co-creation gives life to one
A third eye view unites us
The blinding no longer in existence
This unity knows no resistance
Flow meets flow
Together we will go…

The optimal condition...

Do you ever find yourself searching for optimal conditions to do something you really want to do?

If this happens - I'll do this...When I have this - I can have that...If only there was more of this...then this will happen and i'll be happy.

These are thoughts I have had in the past. I found I didn't really end up doing much at all other than searching for the optimal condition to do all that I wanted to do.

I am happy to say that I have found the way of being that works for me. I now realise there is no optimal time or condition other than now. I realise this in this moment and each moment of the day.

Many people often turn our attention to us having only one life - one chance. But quite often that doesn't shift a persons focus to living. In today's world we can just about answer any question at the touch of a button - a quick search and there is the answer.

For me the thought or 'reality' rather that we only have one mind shifts the focus to purity. Purity of mind.

What are your thoughts - what is your mind saying?

Are you showing the world the person that you truly are? How are you defining yourself?

Are your thoughts kind or destructive?

If we focus on achieving a certain level of goodness or wholeness in thought then happiness presents itself, each individual you come across is better off as you will start to radiate this goodness. I like the term 'goodness' - goodness of thought - replaces overused terms like searching for happiness, inner peace and so on.

Goodness of thought...

Something you don't have to find.

Something that is you.

Create 'It'

There is something about creative people that really inspires me.

Some people often tap into their creative potential and others seem to have this ability to let it flow. It is something that is simply there - effortless.

The words - they come to them - they are not sure how but it ends up on the page. Musicians, poets and authors write of lost love, new beginnings and rebirth. This process is a form of healing in itself for writing of things in the past is a form of letting go and it has the ability then to shift the focus to what they 'do want' in their life.

Any form of creative expression I feel is a form of healing - I continue to invite this into my life and see one day the outcome will be what I have been moving towards my whole life. A personal freedom that I can share with individuals - something that I know will help them at any stage of life.

Some recurring things I have seen in my meditations lately are - two books, one big, one small - affirmation cards - a cheque for $18,000 - Published writing - A radio show...

These things just come to me and I feel that this happens for a reason. Could this be a creative form of meditation? Tapping into the creative potential through meditation, which in turn becomes visualisation...Interesting.

I lived in a past where expressing what I felt, personally or creatively, was a place of uncertainty. So I didn't venture there very often. It's nice to continue to reach new ground in myself and meet wonderfully talented people - poets, artists, musicians - here in Victoria...As each of you share a little piece of your journey - I continue to see new insights into my own journey to now.

So for anyone who doesn't think they are creative - know that you are. Find your way of expressing - the way that works for you.

A journey to trust...

I do some form of meditation each day - usually in the morning. On top of this I will do a self-healing or listen to some guided meditations by Martin Brofman or something new I have stumbled across.

As I have progressed to a daily meditation (It was quite difficult to begin with) I now like to combine this with a look at my chakras every now and then. I am always fascinated by what comes to me and I wanted to share what came to me this morning. Going through each chakra - from my root chakra to the crown - these are the messages that came to me:

Trust it...
Don't look for it, let it come - it is there...
Look through the new eyes...
Be the source - be yourself...
Everything is there waiting...
It is you...
It will help you...

The underlying theme is to trust my journey. Be patient. Keep looking through the new perceptive filter I have created for myself. Be a source of unconditional love - be who I am. Know and trust that I am being guided to all I have asked for in my life. Being guided by spirit is the life for me - it is me. Authority and infinite source will help guide me - stay open...

I know and trust that everyone has this ability. We can get there by listening, by trusting and by choosing the path that we know is the right one for us...

And in finding your truth - you can live that truth...

The Perfect Day...Invite it...

The last week...actually in the last 10 days I have written over 7,000 words on my writing project. It's great to go through old diaries and see how life was. As I read over the words I often find myself wondering where they came from and how good they sound. Then I realise they came from me. I have been sharing small pieces with an author friend of mine and they are well received.

A few weeks ago I mentioned that I have found a new idea to reach people through personal development and after sharing the news with a few close friends - my original thoughts of being onto something have been affirmed. The theme is something I have noticed in my writing over the past three years so it is great now to be living a life where I can continue to reach new ground within myself to find these insights that one day will help others.

I also found myself thinking about the perfect day. A day where you would do exactly what it is you wanted to do. If all we have is now then that day should be every day, but often we might find in life that that just isn't the case. So I decided to to write down what that day would be for me. Things like exercise, coffee and a big breakfast, meditation, expression, receiving, creativity, socialising, great food, love and healing were on my list.

The following day I got up - did exactly what I felt doing in each moment and the next morning I noticed the list sitting on my desk. I originally thought the only thing missing was exercise but that really depends on one's definition of exercise. Then I thought well I must have clocked up nearly two hours of walking that day - so hey the perfect day presented itself to me after asking for it...

What is your perfect day?

Make your list and invite the things you wish to be present in your life...then trust your guide - your intuition - and notice what comes to you...

Escaping...

If entertainment is an escape - and people all over the world pursue entertainment.
Could it be that we all want to escape the same things?.
If we all release the tension that creates the need to escape we will see that life is entertainment...

If yours isn't write a new script today...

Hi all,

This is a recent short story in Monday Magazine here in Victoria.

http://int.mondaymag.com/monday/westcoast.pdf

A few healings have presented themselves and I am looking forward to more calls. I am off on Wednesday for the Vipassana course so will be busy in the lead up doing up some bookmarks and putting the finishing touches to the postcards I designed in November last year while out in Carmanah.

Had some powerful distance healings during the week also. I love my life.

More soon...

The Art of Living

Having registered for a 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat for later this month I was lucky enough to be gifted a book by William Hart called - The Art of Living.
It is a journey through a 10-day retreat as taught by S.N Goenka, who in 1955 went searching for a cure for his severe migraines. This search took him to India - from Burma - to begin learning Vipassana meditation from U Ba Khin and in 1969 Mr Goenka became an authorised teacher of Vipassana. His journey took him far beyond alleviating the symptoms of his physical dis-ease but he found a discipline that was later able to transcend cultural and religious barriers.

A search for a cure of migraines today...actually we as individuals aren't accustomed to searching for cures anymore. The automated response is generally:

Migraine = Doctor = Medication

What inspires me about this individual journey is that it began with the desire to cure one's own physical symptoms and resulted in so much more. We live very much in a well defined world where if we do this - that will happen. Or if we do this - that will happen.

My message is be open...search for what works for you and be surprised at the magic that presents itself in your world. There is a great shift happening at the moment - people are opening their hearts and their minds to new opportunities.

One of the quotes from the book is:

"So long as conditioning remains in the mind we cannot be secure or at peace"

Start with a blank piece of canvas and be who you want to be - it worked for me.

More to come...

Courage & Truth

Magic happens and so does life...I have been out and about but will be posting more regularly from now on.

Just a reminder everything I post is a conversation so it would be great to hear some of your own ideas and comments. That is what life is about - sharing, opening up and reaching people along the way...we can all make a difference and that difference is you...so soar...

Great news is I have cracked my mission of coming up with one method of reaching people through self development. I have the concept and it in the next few years it will come together...actually no time limits - the universe will take care of that.

Chatting with a great friend on Facebook over the weekend the topic of being courageous came up or brave may have been the term. I left the conversation feeling so happy to have been chatting to someone I hadn't chatted to for some months and thinking about the existence of courage and doing things out of the ordinary...

I must admit that I don't see myself as being courageous or brave by living the life that is true to me. It is a choice and everyone has a choice. As I have previously said that when I realised I create my own reality or the have the potential to create great things in life - my healing journey, this blog 'Live Your Truth' and my choice to pursue a spiritual path are all outcomes of me saying to myself:

"Hey...what can you create...where can you take yourself?"

People can see this as unlocking one's potential, setting life goals, living the law of attraction but for me it is all about talking to my spirit, my inner voice - intuition.

So I know that my truth, my very existence on this plane is to help others find their truth, which today explains my request for comments, questions and your own personal insights on anything you would like to share. Healing and working with chakras is the way I am able to do this - in addition to this blog. Perhaps it would be useful to put together a few posts specifically on healing - how it works and how it can help us all...Your thoughts?

I am also thinking of sharing a few things I hope to manifest this year. The first is to link up with a healing practice here in Victoria and I have had a few opportunities pop up in the past three days and I look forward to sharing more soon. I will put together my list of manifestations and post them up soon...the ultimate way of opening up and living a life without fear...

So now that the conversation has started - please tell any friends who may find this interesting and I'll leave you today with a few questions:

If there is something holding you back in life - what do you see it as being?

What is your one wish?

How can this wish present itself in your life?

Finally....

What is your truth?

And here's to making living your truth not courageous...not brave...but the norm for our time and all time...

Back online...

With the Olympics now over I am back online...a quick update is in order...

I have recently moved to Victoria - only a few days ago actually. I have settled into my room and looking forward to setting up a small healing practice. Already without even trying I have a few coming up next week - continuing to work in tune with the universe and trusting that all will be ok is working out well for me - it always does.

The days are slow here, which is much different to the past month where 15 hour days were common early on in the Games. I keep a separate blog for me experience at the Olympics, which I am going to finish off later today so feel free to check it out. The past few days have been focused on meditation and doing some healing on myself...some interesting stuff has come up for me. The words are flowing as I continue to work on a writing project - I'm not sure what it is but I am working on it. Trying to work it out and calculate what everything is in life is something that doesn't work for me but when it is finished I look forward to sharing it with you...

I visited Beacon Hill Park yesterday. It really is such a beautiful place and now being spring the place is just buzzing with sounds and blossoming happening all around...really coming to life it is. I found myself watching the trees and noticed they were moving and the trees in the distance were still. After focusing in more on them I realised that they were moving just slightly - below is what came to me:

"If everything in the distance appears still and calm. Take a moment to look at the 'now' and notice how it feels. If you take your past into the now - it will be in your future and that future may not be as still as you first thought..."

How does life appear for you now? If you find yourself yearning or wanting that pay rise or relationship be careful not to blink as you may just miss out on it when it comes...when your eyes open you may find yourself wanting and yearning for the same thing all over again...

Here's to now...

The Hard Sell...

I had an interesting experience a few nights ago. I come across an advertisement for a talk by a visiting Swami from India and the topic of - leading an enlightened life through spiritual practice and the release of strong negative emotions - really resonated with me so I decided to check it out.

The talk was delayed for some reason and as it turned out the Swami was help up in India so someone spoke on his behalf. the experience was pleasurable and was a recap of topics I understand well but presented in a different way.

It has been close to eight months now where I have been living life from the throat chakra - flowing with and following my intuition. During the course this was presented in what the speaker termed 'initiating'. Preselected individuals of varying ages and backgrounds offered their experiences with the teachings and it was about this time when the sell commenced.

Personally I don't believe that enlightenment comes with a price - how can you put a price on this? It is something that can be achieved within so telling people to go to India isn't the way to encourage first timers or first time visitors to the organisation to experience enlightenment. So much consumerism is thrown at people these days and I believe people are tired of it. I say this already knowing that me spending time in India doing spiritual courses is something in my future but one has to be sensitive to how people receive the messages in such talks.

It was because of this and the many personal development emails I receive on a daily basis all wanting me to buy something that I am making a commitment to finding a way to offer my answer to people in a way that will speak to them - this is something that will present itself in my future.

So I encourage you to keep doing what resonates with you - what feels right - the most important answer is your answer.

It's been a while...

I now find myself back in Vancouver in readiness for the Olympics...I am thinking of starting up another blog for my Olympic experience...

After the Olympics I am looking forward to renting a room somewhere and the possibility to live in an urban monastery has come up. Definitely worth a few months living with both monks and lay people...I am heading back on Friday for a lunchtime meditation and will find out more...

In any event after the Games I intend to spend three months in the one place. I am looking forward to linking in with some healing centre's in both Vancouver and the Victoria areas and even finish my book...the first draft anyway.

I have just finished reading a wonderful little book by Hugh Prather - 'Notes to Myself - my struggle to become a person' In 1968 he asked his wife if she was comfortable if he left work to focus on becoming a writer and she agreed. Two years later nothing he had written had gotten published and he decided to put together content for a book composed entirely of excerpts from his personal diary....this little book was the result. Amazing stuff and is worth checking out.

It doesn't take much...

I am in Athens at the moment and while doing the general tourist rounds we found out that due to a bomb threat the main street we were heading to was closed and a traffic jam was the result.

It doesn't take much to set people off in their cars or on their motorbikes...absolute chaos.

Being in such a rush doesn't help anyone.

Next time you feel you need to rush - take a step back and consciously stay relaxed and take your time. Tell yourself it will all work out and then watch the quality of your day increase rather than it spiraling out of control...

Positive thoughts lead to more positive thoughts. Negative thoughts lead to more negative thoughts and finally frustration that things aren't going your way...

Take time...

When the extraordinary becomes the norm...

Do something each day that you normally wouldn't.

Give someone a compliment, tell an uncle or an aunt how much they mean to you - basically anything that you think of that gives thanks...

Then see the magic happen..

When the passion goes...

I got to speaking to an older couple who own a used book shop in Liverpool a few days ago. They were actually closed but they opened the doors and let me in. I browsed for a while and has this wonderful feeling that during their day off they still let me in.

After 20 minutes or so I made my selection and spoke to the couple for a while about their love of sailing and adventure. I thanked them for being so passionate about books and for letting me in. The man responded that after 20 years of carrying books up and down the stairs that the passion has waned...

I must admit - it shocked me.

It made me think about how many of us are actually doing what we really want to do?

So I am sending my thoughts out to you - someone holding themselves back from what they know is right for them. It could be a new career, relationship, hobby...

We all know what we want - do what you feel is right for you...

So I send you:

Courage...Courage to trust in yourself and your decisions...

Belief...That the time is now...

Action...Take that first step...it is often the hardest but once you do you will not look back...

The Path of Least Resistance Vs Effort

In the past my view on getting what you want in life was that it was only ever possible through effort. There was no luck - only effort.

In the past few years I have learned to relax a little more, open up and flow with the wonders of life. This resulted in a trust - a knowing - within myself that everything is playing out as it should in each and every moment...life is a movie.

When I look back on my life when effort was the main theme, I don't recall too much happiness as life was focused on the struggle. When I look at my life - my movie - now I always see new and interesting characters, an abundance of happiness and an openness to connect with people and share my journey with them.

Should happiness be an effort? Should love or relationships be an effort?

We can all do anything...we can all achieve what we want...

We can all enjoy the journey...

The Hearts of Men

I have just finished reading Tiger of the Snows - the story of Tenzing Norgay. The Sherpa who reached the summit of Everest with Sir Edmund Hillary...

Read it if you get the chance - it is so honest. I would say the most honest biography I have read.

After Everest he returns back home to Darjeeling and he is looking out towards Everest from Tiger Hill. From Tiger Hill Everest looks small compared to mountains in the foreground. In the past he says some guides would tell the tourists that the larger appearing mountain was Everest but he always said 'It's the small one...yep it's the small one'

He says that that is a strange name to call the biggest mountain on earth but it is the hearts of men that make it big or small...beautifully put.

We each have an Everest to climb. Tenzing went seven times in total to Everest and succeeded on the last attempt.

But depending how you look at it - he succeeded every time - each time going further than the last.

So if your 'Everest' is in the distance - try some more - success definitely comes with every effort towards the goal you are working towards....

So much to do...

On the train into town today I got to talking to an elderly woman...well I listened really...

She was disappointed she hadn't seen more children out playing in the snow on such a beautiful and clear day. She spoke of her youth - a time with no television and in many cases she said people didn't have radio's but they were always happy and outside doing something.

In the modern age with so much to do, so much accessible to us we still can suffer from boredom...We got to work, come home, eat, watch TV and sleep...

Tomorrow - or every day make sure to take some time to do something you love. Read a book, cook a new meal, or exercise... whatever it is you choose to do treat that moment as if it is the best moment of your life.

If it makes you happy - chances are it will make those around you happy also...

Footsteps...

On a walk to Sefton Park, Liverpool today I got to thinking about footsteps and walking towards our goals or just simply walking...some follow the path...some find a place within themselves to march toward what they want in life with no room for compromise.

When I got to the park I noticed that people had walked in places they normally wouldn't. Down embankments and gardens - that were obviously covered in snow - not places I would think that people would normally walk.

I saw the snow as offering some kind of security blanket or safety net for people to set their own path...free to go wherever.

We often hear about footprints in the sand (or in the snow in this case!) but what about the footprints we leave that don't leave a lasting impression? They are still there - you know them well - they are the ones we leave with every step, each day going to work or merely one's journey through life.

What kind of impression have you left today?

Know that that impression matters and the difference you can make is right now...

A Thought a Day...

In 2010 I thought it would be great to record a thought a day...or record something that can help us all along our individual journey's...Please feel free to share your own thoughts as we go...

I'll post the first one up later today and look forward to sharing with you...

Happy New Year...

Hi Guys,

Happy new year...I've been on quite the journey of late.

Late November 2009 I found myself traveling in the United States for the first time. I had a great stay in Portland, Oregon - with my first couch surfing hosts...amazingly talented people and I loved the food and coffee culture (Even did my first industry standard Coffee tasting)...

San Francisco was next stop - what a large city...I of course decided to walk to Ocean Beach from the centre of town (towards the part of the map that was slightly off scale) - it was a great journey and I snapped some great pics at sunset.

From there it was onto London...I spent a few weeks in Hitchin with great friends and then headed up to liverpool to see my cousin and his wife.

Christmas found me tripping over to France for an intensive Level 1 course in the body mirror system...All part of an amazing journey. I wanted to be healed of a focus on lacking and to restore my left eye to perfect vision. Both related to the solar plexus chakra...something has definitely opened up for me during the experience. I have never had so much trust in myself and my journey...I am learning the best place for me is being in the now and I now know that feeling my way through life is the only way to go.

I was able to touch base with the whole system of healing and shared some great healing experiences with fellow healers. The main theme from the four days of the course for me was:

Acceptance - unconditional acceptance...infinite acceptance...

I wish you all magical things for the year - in each and every moment...

Namaste
